Sic Itur Ad Astra
In the book ‘Sic Itur Ad Astra – Visual history of The Hague Balloon Club’ author Han Nabben unravels the history of the internationally renowned The Hague Balloon Club, founded by Jo Boesman in 1936. The club of gas-balloonists was worldwide active, realized first-ever balloon flights in many countries and organized a famous annually recurring international balloon race.

The book contains 250+ unique historical (gas)ballooning photos from the 1930s till the 1980s. With the rise of the hot air balloon, the club disappeared from the scene in the late 1980s. The combined English/Dutch book was initiated at the occasion of the 100th birthday of balloonist Nini Boesman and contains a preface by the president of the Society for Aeronautical History, Pamela Visscher.

An autographed piece of balloon mail and – unique! – an authentic piece of balloon fabric from one of the club’s gasballoons is added to each book. It’s therefore a true collector's item for anyone interested in aviation history. The books are printed in a limited edition of 200, and are available as long as supplies last.
